Philadelphia, August 2008: Jim Thorpe

Here is the first in a set of pictures from a vacation I took to Philadelphia in August of 2008. My friend Jennifer and I went to spend a couple of days with her parents who live up near a lovely little town called Jim Thorpe.

Here is the man himself, Jim Thorpe.

The view overlooking Jim Thrope. Isn't it beautiful? The following include shots of the Asa Packer mansion, city hall, the train station, and the river.

Of the two mansions above, one of them was the model for Disney's Haunted Mansion. Can you guess which one? The next set of pictures include our walk through Jim Thorpe, passing the library, adorable shops, fun buildings, classic cars, and all kinds of neat, fun stuff.

Next up is a handful of pictures from an excellent cave tour Jenn's dad took us on. There were bats! Alas, I didn't get any pictures. The view from the other side of the cave was part of the lake. There were also railroad track in the cave! We rounded out the day by admiring the view from the local concert venue.

Deer are frequent visitors to Jenn's parent's house, so here are the best shots I could take without spooking them!

And to conclude, a special picture of the treehouse Jenn's dad constructed. He's a pro!
